Enhance Industrial Parts with Finishes

MakerVerse offers the full range of finishes for all manufacturing technologies.

With these finishes, you can increase dimensional accuracy, improve the surface, and enhance mechanical properties.

Popular Finishes

Standard finish
For all LPBF, SLS, and MJF parts ordered at MakerVerse, we provide a media blasting as part of our standard finish. For LPBF and FDM parts, we additionally include the removal of all support structure materials within our standard finish. For certain metals in LPBF, the standard finish also includes annealing. CNC machined parts come “as machined,” but additional finishes are available.

Annealing

CNC
Annealing involves heating metal parts to a specific temperature and slowly cooling them. This process reduces hardness, increases ductility, and relieves internal stresses, making the material easier to work with.

Anodizing

CNC
This electrochemical process increases the thickness and toughness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts. Anodizing provides a protective, corrosion-resistant, and decorative finish.

Black oxidizing

CNC
Also known as blackening, this process creates a black oxide coating on the surface of metal parts. Black oxidizing provides a durable and corrosion-resistant finish.

Blasted

CNC LPBF MJF SLS
An abrasive medium is applied to the component under high pressure. By using different media (e.g. corundum, sand or glass beads), both functional (achieving a certain surface roughness) and optical (polishing the surface) finishing can be performed.
cnc drilling

CNC machined

LPBF
Advantages of CNC machining are its dimensional stability, low surface roughness and its flexibility for customer-specific requirements. CNC machining requires a drawing for our engineers to assess the work required. Tolerances available upon request.

Color dyed

FDM MJF SLS
In the dyeing process, the plastic component is immersed in a water bath. The resulting chemical reaction causes the dye to penetrate the component. Characteristics of this are, on the one hand, a homogeneous color gradient and, on the other hand, an unchanging but more scratch-resistant surface.

Electrogalvanization

CNC
A layer of zinc is electrically deposited onto metal parts. Electrogalvanization provides excellent corrosion resistance and a smooth finish and can serve as a base for further painting or coating.

Heat treated

CNC LPBF
The material is heated to a desired temperature. After reaching and remaining at this temperature, the material is cooled back down. For specifications of the heat treatment procedures carried out for each material, visit the corresponding data sheets.

Nickel plating

CNC
This electroplating process deposits a layer of nickel onto the surface of metal parts. Nickel plating enhances corrosion resistance, adds wear protection, and provides an attractive finish.

Painted

CNC FDM LPBF MJF SLS
To get the desired output the part is properly prepared through accurate cleaning and by applying a clearcoat. Painting can be particularly useful to enhance the design of your printed part or to facilitate the evaluation of a printed prototype.

Passivation

CNC
This chemical treatment removes free iron from the surface of stainless steel parts. Passivation enhances stainless steel's natural corrosion resistance, providing a clean and inert surface.
Plasma nitriding in action

Plasma nitriding

CNC
This surface-hardening process involves introducing nitrogen ions into the metal surface in a plasma environment. Plasma nitriding increases wear resistance, enhances fatigue strength, and improves corrosion resistance.

Polished

LPBF
Polishing is a finishing process for smoothing a workpiece's surface by using an abrasive. By repeating this process throughout different stages with reduced roughness of the abrasive, you create a smooth and polished surface.

Sanded

FDM MJF SLS
Sanding is performed for smoothing the part and removing any obvious blemishes, such as support marks or blobs using sandpaper. The chosen sandpaper depends on the layer height and print quality desired.
